Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 24, 2026
The short version
- Checking what you copy happens on your PC. Copying never sends your text.
- Text leaves your PC only when you press Humanize, with passwords, keys and personal details removed first. We don't store it.
- If you sign in, we keep your email address and how many rewrites you used each day.
- The app sends anonymous counts (copies checked, alerts shown, rewrites made) so we can see what's working. Never any text. You can turn this off.
- No ads, no third-party trackers, no selling data. The website sets no cookies.
Who we are
Human-nicer ("we", "us") makes the Human-nicer desktop app and this website. You can reach us at support@humannicer.com for anything in this policy, including requests to access or delete your data.
What stays on your computer
Your clipboard. The app reads text you copy so it can check it. That check — the score, the warnings, detecting code or data — runs entirely on your computer. Copied text is kept in memory only while needed and is never written to disk, logged, or sent anywhere as a result of copying.
Your settings (alert threshold, tone, character, startup and Local-only options) are saved in a file on your computer. If you sign in, your sign-in session is saved on your computer, encrypted with Windows' built-in data protection.
What we receive, and why
| Data | When | Why | Kept for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Email address, name and profile picture from your Google account, and an account ID | When you sign in | To create your account and keep the free allowance per person | Until you delete your account |
| Number of rewrites used per day, and whether you have Pro | Each time you press Humanize | To apply the daily allowance | Until you delete your account |
| The text you chose to rewrite, after redaction, and the tone you picked | Only when you press Humanize | To produce the rewrite | Not stored by us — processed and discarded |
| Anonymous usage counts: a random install ID, the app version, the date, and how many copies were checked, alerts shown and rewrites made that day, and whether you're signed in. Never any text, never what was flagged, never your account. | At most once an hour while the app runs, if something changed | To see whether the app is useful and what to fix | Up to 24 months |
Website visits: the page, the site that linked you here, and campaign tags in the link
(like utm_source). No cookies, and your IP address isn't stored.
|
When you visit this website or click a download button | To see how people find us | Up to 24 months |
| Your answer to the uninstall question, and any comment you add | Only if you answer it after uninstalling | To understand why people leave | Up to 24 months |
| IP address and request times in server logs | When the app talks to our server or checks for updates | To run, secure and debug the service | As set by our providers, typically days to weeks |
Redaction before Humanize
Before any text is sent, the app looks for passwords and passphrases, API keys and
tokens, private keys, email addresses, phone numbers, payment card numbers, government ID
numbers and similar details, and replaces them with placeholders such as
[EMAIL_1]. Only the redacted text is sent. The real values stay on your
computer and are put back into the rewrite there. Detection is automatic and can miss
unusual formats, so avoid humanizing text that is sensitive as a whole. Turn on
Local-only mode in Settings to stop Humanize from sending anything.
Who processes data for us
| Provider | What for | Data involved |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase (hosting in Mumbai, India) | Accounts, usage counts, running the rewrite request, anonymous metrics | Account data, usage counts, redacted text in transit, anonymous counts |
| Google (Gemini API) | Producing the rewrite | Redacted text and tone. We use Google's paid API tier, under which Google does not use your text to train its models. Google may retain it for a limited time to detect abuse, under its own terms. |
| Google (Sign-In) | Signing you in | Your Google account details you approve |
| GitHub | Hosting this website, downloads and update checks | IP address and standard request logs |
These providers may process data outside your country. We don't sell or share your data with anyone else, and we don't use it for advertising.
What we don't do
- No third-party analytics, tracking or advertising SDKs, in the app or on this site.
- No cookies on this website.
- No reading of your clipboard history, files, or other apps.
- No training of AI models on your text.
